


Hiking is an excellent way for families and individuals to get exercise and get into the great outdoors. Following is a growing list of locations for some Sunshine Coast hikes. Additionally these hiking trails are free to use and are easily accessible. These Sunshine Coast hikes are not too far from civilisation and other great Sunshine Coast attractions.

Gympie River to Rail Trail
The Gympie River to Rail Trail is a 7km trail that loops around and through the town of Gympie.

Point Cartwright Lighthouse Reserve
The Point Cartwright Lighthouse Reserve is tucked away at the northern end of Kawana Waters.

Noosa Botanic Gardens – Lake MacDonald
One of two Botanic Gardens located in Noosa, the larger of the two is located overlooking Lake MacDonald in the Noosa hinterland.

Mothar Mountain Rock Pools
Mothar Mountain Rock Pools are located in the Woondum State Forest, a short drive south of Gympie.

Kathleen MacArthur Conservation Park
The Kathleen MacArthur Conservation Park is nestled beside Currimundi Lake at Wurtulla.

Amama Walking Track – Amamoor State Forest
The Amama Walking Track is located in the Amamoor State Forest, a 20 minute drive south-west of Gympie and 5 minutes from the township of Amamoor.

Ewen Maddock Dam
Ewen Maddock Dam is located a few minutes from Landsborough, in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

Cilento Park Nambour
Cilento Park is hidden away behind Nambour on the Sunshine Coast.

Carlo Sandblow – Rainbow Beach
Carlo Sandblow is a hidden gem of Rainbow Beach. The short walk from the carpark to the blow is the first section of the Great Sandy Walk.

Buderim Forest Park
Nestled in the heart of Buderim, this rainforest walk features a waterfall and swimming hole.

Ben Bennett Bushland Park
Ben Bennett Bushland Park is located in the heart of Caloundra, and offers a range of different flora and fauna.

Moffat Beach Headland
This walkway meanders along the Caloundra foreshore. It forms part of the Coastal Pathways network, ending at Happy Valley on the other side of Caloundra.
