Cilento Park

This is one destination that took us by surprise. One of many waterfalls dotted throughout the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Cilento Park is quite possibly the most accessible.

Picnic Area and Playground

Nested in the middle of the Nambour residential area and less than a 5-minute drive from the CBD, Cilento Park is nearby to everything Nambour has to offer. At the top is an amenities block, basic playground, and picnic facilities. There is also plenty of open grassy area for the kids or dogs to run around. The walking track is very short with only about 10 – 15 minutes of walk time. It is a loop trail and there is little to no signage along the way. Despite this, the way down to the watering hole is straightforward. From the playground, there are two ways to get to the waterfall. The non-signposted way that is closer to the playground is the easier of the two.

The Hiking Trail

The walk is very easy with a wide path all the way to the waterfall. At the base of the waterfall is a small swimming hole, where it is great to cool off in summer. The beautiful sounds of nature has an amazing calming effect. The whip birds make their distinct call while the running water relaxes. From the waterfall, the way back to the play equipment is the easier way. Or for an extra challenge, continue on the steeper section to the top. At the top, you can get an eagles eye view from the top of the waterfall. This stretch can be a little difficult. Finally, while not the most time-consuming hiking trails, Cilento Park is a neat little trail and rewards hikers along the way.
